A single tool for inputting forecasts on projects costs enabling actuals vs. forecast reporting with SAP BO tools such as Analysis and Lumira.

01 / Modern UI
The tool is created with SAP UI5 framework, creating a single smooth workflow for inputting project forecasts for project managers and other stakeholders. The tool can be adjusted to fit corporate identity colors, and UI can be adjusted to user specified needs.

The Project Reporting tool provides the inputted forecast in realtime for reporting scenarios, allowing users to review and adjust forecast seemingly without any need for extra data loads or activation.

The standard setup for the tool, is easily integrated in a system landscape. With HANA SDA the tool can be modified to retrieve project master data from a multitude of source systems, or it can integrate with a regular SAP BW MD scenario.
THE CASE
The solution was solved by creating a HANA XSA web application, that allowed us to create a UI, which supported a linear and simplified forecast process directly in the browser of the user.
By building the forecast tool on HANA we made it easy to integrate in a regular system landscape, and allowed for SAP BO tools to access data in real time.
IN BRIEF
The customer needed a tool that provided a single linear workflow for inputting project forecast for project managers and other stakeholders. The solution had to support easy forecast vs. actual reporting scenarios by a monthly and yearly basis.
The tool were to utilize existing master data from a SQL database, and allow users to add custom and existing resources to projects. The tool were to handle hours, travel and other cost spend categories, creating a complete forecast of project costs.
Creating a logical and easy workflow for inputting project forecast was the primary challenge for this solution. Avoiding a confusing workflow was essential to minimizing reporting errors and increase forecast accuracy.
The tool were also to handle monthly deep dives and locking of individual projects, to support portfolio management needs.
